![]() Dan Ivins was called as the 36th pastor of The First Baptist Church in America on Christmas Eve 2006. Preaching is a borrowed art that nobody does with perfection. Originally it came through the ear, but now with the Internet, through the eye. Still we try because Sundays have a way of coming around with regularity. I am indebted to many over four decades of preaching "in season and out of season" in the four corners of the country. My current pulpit is special because of those who came before me, not the least being Roger Williams. I wish it didn't matter who got the credit. And what if it did? So I'll take responsibility for these feeble attempts to bless somebody, but others are credited where it is due. Foremost, I consider myself an unapologetic biblical preacher, who takes the Bible seriously, not literally. I see value in following the Church Year, telling the stories of Jesus to all hungering for grace. I always try to be true to the text, relevant to our day, and provide hope for tomorrow. Each Sunday's "offering" was to God in the presence of God's people, and posted with a prayer that it may make somebody's load a little lighter, including those I don't even know. Worship is at 11:00 AM beginning September 9 through June 2008. |
